WoW Forever PvP crit damage reduction is a bug, designer says

A WoW Forever designer says the reduced critical-strike damage against players is a bug and will not stay. No fix date or final damage value has been announced.

The short version

  • Reduced critical-strike damage against players in the current beta is unintended, according to designer Zirene.
  • The designer says the reduction will not stay, but has given no patch date or final number.
  • Do not rebuild your PvP gear or talent choices around today's crit damage without retesting after the fix.

What was confirmed on September 29?

After players reported weaker critical hits against other players, designer Zirene said the reduced critical-strike damage in PvP is a bug and will not stay. That confirms the current reduction is unintended; it does not mean a correction is already live.

What should you do in the beta?

Treat current PvP crit comparisons as temporary. If you are choosing talents or gear for duels, record the build and test again after Blizzard changes it. Do not infer the eventual damage multiplier from a player's test or from this short statement. The date of the fix and the final value have not been announced.
