WoW Forever Fishing: leveling, spots and rare catches

Start with a nearby fishing spot

Fishing Rack and Fishing Hut describe uncommon and rare catches, but their catch lists and blueprint sources remain unknown.

What does a lure actually do?

Shiny Bauble adds 25 Fishing for 10 minutes when applied to a pole. That temporary bonus does not replace learned skill points or unlock another rank.

The Fishing description links higher skill to better success in higher-level areas. If catches keep failing, try a lure or easier water. If you are already landing fish, the evidence checked here does not establish that a lure will make skill points arrive faster.

Where to fish for each goal

For skill points, start somewhere that saves travel and interruptions. For a particular fish, choose the right water. Check your first catches before committing a whole evening.

One Reddit beta report describes moving from Durotar’s coast to a river to make Fish Bowls, then returning to quests with Cooking and campsite buffs. That is a reported use of the system, not a yield test.

Check your next rank before travelling

Use this table to identify what to check next. Classic thresholds are reference points, not a tested Forever 1–300 route. Check your trainer’s available ranks and requirements before making a long trip.

Stuck at 150: the Expert book

The book’s item record requires Fishing 125 and character level 20 and raises the maximum to 225. You do not need to wait until 150 to meet its listed Fishing requirement.

In Classic, Old Man Heming sells the book in Booty Bay. Treat that as a lead to check before travelling: the comments describing his shop are old. A Forever database entry alone does not establish his current stock, price or whether this vendor is required.

Beyond 225: do you need Nat Pagle?

Classic progression used Nat Pagle in Dustwallow Marsh at Fishing 225 and character level 35. Those conditions come from historical comments; they have not been checked in Forever.

The listed quest requests four fish from Feralas, Desolace, Swamp of Sorrows and Stranglethorn Vale. If it is offered to you in beta, accept it before travelling and follow the subzones named in your quest log. First check whether your trainer already offers further training; you may save yourself a long trip.

What Fishing Rack and Fishing Hut blueprints unlock

A Fish Bowl takes one Raw Brilliant Smallfish and one Empty Vial. The item requires Fishing 20; its 8% stat buff does not stack with Blessing of Kings. That use requirement does not establish the trainer’s requirement for learning the recipe.

Fishing Rack and Fishing Hut describe uncommon and rare catches respectively, lasting one hour. Both retain Fish Bowl benefits, require a nearby campfire and can replace an existing Fish Bowl. Camping features share a one-hour cooldown.

The Rack blueprint requires Fishing 140; the Hut blueprint requires 300. Their vendor or loot source is not established, so there is no verified boss or creature to farm for these plans.

Check your cap when Fishing stops progressing

First check whether your base skill has reached its cap. A full bar calls for checking your rank before changing lakes. Below the cap, compare several successful catches before assuming progression is broken. The exact Forever skill-up rate is not established by the checked sources.

To document a find, record its name and item ID, zone, pool type and active buffs. Those details help distinguish a new catch from Classic content carried over into the database.

Rare catches: Classic references

Classic documents The 1 Ring, Steelscale Crushfish and off-hand fish trophies. Their Forever catch rates remain unverified.

Classic coastal wreckage between Ratchet and Northwatch Hold, or in Westfall, can yield Tightly Sealed Trunks with materials and recipes. No link to the new blueprints is established.

Fishing-related items found in the client

These entries come from beta client 1.60.1.69913. An item record does not prove it is caught through Fishing. Rare can also mean an item quality; it tells us nothing about the catch percentage.

A Stranglethorn contest reported in beta

A participant reports a contest with level 20 characters: the first 50 to hand in 40 fish reportedly won. They mention Bitter Baitling among the rewards and the three Classic rare fish. This is a beta account; we could not verify the screenshot. Launch schedules and rules remain unconfirmed.
