WoW Forever Fishing: what actually changes

Fish Bowl, Fishing Rack, Whimsyfin, the Luremaster Legacy perk and Stranglethorn prizes: verified Fishing changes and beta limits.

The short version

  • Fishing adds three campsite crafts: Fish Bowl, Fishing Rack and Fishing Hut.
  • Blizzard confirms that the Luremaster Legacy perk can yield extra fish, without publishing a chance in its announcement.
  • Whimsyfin, the Chef’s Knife and new derby prizes appear in beta records; practical details can still change.

Campsites: Fish Bowl, Rack and Hut

Fishing now has a Bait and Tackle menu for crafting objects placed beside a campfire. A Fish Bowl takes one Raw Brilliant Smallfish and one Empty Vial. It grants nearby seated players 8% increased stats and does not stack with Blessing of Kings.

Fishing Rack requires 140 Fishing and a blueprint; Fishing Hut requires 300 and its blueprint. Their descriptions promise access to uncommon and rare catches respectively for one hour while retaining the Fish Bowl benefit. The client records do not establish where either blueprint drops or which fish qualify. There is no verified boss to farm for them.

Legacy: extra fish without a published rate

Blizzard lists Luremaster in the Professions Legacy tree. It gives a chance to fish up extra fish, but the announcement does not publish a percentage. This is useful if you cook or sell your catch; it does not reveal what the Rack or Hut can produce.

Legacy unlocks with your first Legacy Point. Blizzard says reaching level 25 is the most common route, while other routes exist. Fishing itself is not listed as a Legacy Point challenge.

How Legacy Points and perks work

Whimsyfin and Chef’s Knife: keep an eye on your catch

Whimsyfin is a new fish used for Savory Whimsyfin Delight. Beta comments place its schools in the rivers east of Lake Everstill in Redridge Mountains. That is a player observation, not a Blizzard zone table. The recipe appears in the Forever database, but a displayed 0% drop rate is not a reliable farming guide.

The Chef’s Knife is listed by Fishing-supply vendors. Its record requires character level 35 and 275 Fishing and says it prepares certain unique fish. It does not identify those fish or the result. Hold on to an unusual catch before selling it, but do not assume the knife works on it.

Stranglethorn derby: a coin and a prize vendor

Forever's Extravagant Extravaganza Coin record awards it to Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza winners. Jang exchanges it for a choice of prizes, including Hook of the Master Angler, shoes, a cosmetic hat and a pet. A Forever Master Angler! effect allows the title for six and a half days.

One beta participant reports that the first 50 anglers to hand in 40 Speckled Tastyfish won. Recheck that number and the schedule in each phase: the coin record confirms the reward, not every tournament rule.

What still needs proof

The sources checked here do not confirm a fishable epic ring with 100 spell power. They also do not establish catch rates, blueprint sources for the Rack and Hut, or a complete list of fish enabled by those campsite objects. New zones have fishable water, but that alone does not prove a zone-exclusive catch.
