The short version

  • Level 30 opened; the extra XP on dungeon quests was halved.
  • Excavation Site: Wetlands 26–31; Razorfen Downs 25+; Uldaman 30+.
  • New dungeon Blacksmithing/Leatherworking recipes; crafted wands vendor for 1 copper; fewer Poor Copper nodes; one skin per beast.

The patch in 30 seconds

This table focuses on changes that affect a player's next decision. It does not measure DPS or real profit. Blizzard added Warrior details on October 2, and the client's known issues may still differ from the intended design.

Warrior Rage: why two numbers appear

The main notes mention both +75% and +100% Rage from critical strikes. Blizzard's October 2 follow-up specifies +100% and details Fury/Protection changes. Known issues still flag Dual Wield Specialization: check your client before locking in a build.

Other changes worth checking

Protection Paladin: Redoubt now reaches 20% Block at 5/5 rather than 30%; Holy Shield rises to 30%. Shadow Priest: Shadow Weaving should always apply. Rogue: a missed Expose Armor should no longer erase combo points. Shaman: Totemic Recall should return Mana. Warlock: Soul Harvesting is now Soul Harvest, with its regeneration bonus corrected. Most PvP Honor prices rise by roughly 50%, while the Honor cap increases to 25,000.

After these notes: October 8 patch

The rules above describe October 1. The October 8 patch has since changed wand vendor prices, dungeon creature XP and several classes. Use the newer breakdown for current advice.
