WoW Forever Demonology at level 30: demons and combat

Choose a Demonology pet at level 30 in WoW Forever. Check Demonic Brand, useful talents, solo and dungeon priorities, plus the Felhunter quest starting points.

Talents that change your demon

Open an icon for its maximum-rank effect. Demonic Brand is on row four: spend 15 points in Demonology first. Soul Link is on row five and requires Demonic Sacrifice; hybrid builds may lack the points. The linked leveling path is a separate Affliction choice.

Do not rely on the Imp to take aggro through Demonic Brand: Blizzard says it gains no extra threat. The Voidwalker benefits through the Shadow-damage effect.

Talents that change your demon
TalentUseful effect
Unholy Power

Increases all damage done by your Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Incubus, and Felhunter pets by 10%.

5/5: +10% damage for your demons.
Demonic Energies

You heal your pet for 15% of all spell damage you deal. When you gain Mana from Life Tap, your summoned demon gains 100% of the Mana you gain.

2/2: heals the demon for 15% of your spell damage; Life Tap grants it as much Mana as you gain.
Demonic Brand

Rank 3/3: Searing Pain threat −50%. Brands for 10 sec; the next 6 demon attacks gain bonus Fire/Shadow damage. High threat applies to Shadow damage: the Voidwalker benefits; the Imp gains no extra threat. Damage varies with client scaling.

3/3: Searing Pain applies a 10-second brand affecting the demon’s next six attacks.

Solo and dungeon priorities

Send the demon, use DoTs when the target will survive them, then Searing Pain for the brand. Drain Life supports your health; use Life Tap when safe. Finish with a wand instead of paying for an unnecessary spell.

In dungeons, let the tank establish threat and agree on the pet with your group. The solo Searing Pain loop is not a universal rotation: threat and crowd control matter.

Unlock the Felhunter

At 30, start with Gakin in Stormwind, Gan’rul in Orgrimmar or Carendin in Undercity, as appropriate. Seeking Strahad leads to Strahad Farsan in Ratchet; the Tome of the Cabal chain ends with a summoned demon to defeat. The level alone does not grant the pet.

Verification and limits

Checked October 7: October 6 client export, official notes and two Forever guides. Solo advice remains provisional; no simulated Demonology DPS or BiS is claimed.

Updated

October 8: Demonic Brand threat clarified from Blizzard’s class explanation. The Imp gains no extra threat; the Voidwalker does through the Shadow-damage effect. Six affected attacks at rank 3/3 remain from the client export; the announcement mentions two without specifying a rank.
