WoW Forever: should you turn transmog off?

Seeing chosen outfits or recognizing equipped gear: the transmog debate is back in WoW Forever. Here is how to decide what you want on your screen.

Choose your display at a transmogrifier

A transmogrifier lets you hide others’ transmogs and see their equipped gear. Appearance collection continues. Classic Mode disables transmog display by default; hidden helms and cloaks remain hidden.

Understand gear effects beyond its appearance

A practical way to decide

  1. Compare in a busy area

    During your first sessions, compare both views in a busy area.

  2. Decide what you want to see

    Notice what you actually look for: a recognizable armor piece, a distinctive silhouette or an outfit you enjoy.

  3. Keep the useful setting

    Keep the setting that serves that purpose.

Why some players want gear to stay visible

Try disabling transmog if you want to recognize equipped items. Keep it enabled if you want to see the outfits other players have chosen.
