Understand these three talents

These options are not a complete allocation. Mind Flay sits on row three (10 points first); Vampiric Embrace and Shadow Weaving sit on row four (15). Our existing leveling path uses a mixed build and cannot combine every choice here. Icons show client effects, not measured level-30 DPS.

Talent	Useful effect
Mind Flay ⓘ Channels Shadow damage and slows the target by 50%. Damage depends on your learned spell rank; this is not a level-30 damage measurement.	Channels Shadow damage and slows by 50%; damage depends on the learned rank.
Vampiric Embrace ⓘ Afflicts your target with Shadow energy that causes all party members to be healed for 20% of any Shadow spell damage you deal for 30 sec.	Heals party members for 20% of your Shadow spell damage against the marked target.
Shadow Weaving ⓘ Your Shadow damage spells have a 100% chance to increase the Shadow damage you deal by 2% for 15 sec, stacking up to 5 times.	3/3: your Shadow spells stack a personal 2% damage bonus up to five times.

Choose for the situation

Mana is the constraint

Avoid refreshing a DoT when the enemy is about to die. Use a wand to allow regeneration to resume. Forever makes Devouring Plague available beyond its old racial restriction, but casting it on every small enemy can be costly.

In dungeons, tell the party you are joining as DPS. Vampiric Embrace relies on the damage you deal; its support healing does not replace a designated healer. Carry water and keep Mana for an unexpected problem.

Gear and progression

A useful wand and spell damage support this role. Compare Shadow damage, healing bonuses and Mana stats: they serve different purposes. Use our existing Shadow list with its faction and profession restrictions, rather than a Holy gear list. Open the Shadow selection through “Gear by specialization” on the linked class page.
